ABOUT THE EXAM

Math Kangaroo

Math Kangaroo is an international math competition held annually for students from grades 1 to 12. It is designed to encourage young minds to enjoy mathematics and develop problem-solving skills. The competition features multiple-choice questions that test logical reasoning, critical thinking, and a solid understanding of mathematical concepts. It is divided into several levels to ensure that each student competes within a peer group of similar age and skill. These levels are categorized as Pre-Ecolier (grades 1-2), Ecolier (grades 3-4), Benjamin (grades 5-6), Cadet (grades 7-8), Junior (grades 9-10), and Student (grades 11-12). Each level presents a progressive challenge, with questions that range from basic arithmetic and logical puzzles for younger students to more advanced topics like algebra, geometry, and combinatorics for older students.

Exam Format

The Math Kangaroo exam is a multiple-choice format with 24 questions for students grades 1-4, and 30 questions for grades 5-12. The questions are equally divided into three difficulty levels: 3-point, 4-point and 5-point problems. For Grades 1 to 4, there are 8 questions in each difficulty level, totalling 96 points. For Grades 5 to 12, there will be 10 questions in each level, summing up to 120 points. Each question contains five MCQ-based options. Students in Grades 1 and 2 will take the same Pre-Ecolier Level test paper but will be ranked separately. The same applies to other levels as well. Negative marking applies. 1 point is deducted for each incorrect answer, but there’s no penalty for skipping a question.

Curriculum

The Math Kangaroo curriculum is designed to strengthen students' problem-solving skills and deepen their understanding of mathematical concepts. The syllabus covers a wide range of topics, including logic, reasoning, and creative thinking. At eduSeed, we coach students for the Math Kangaroo 2025 exam up to the Benjamin level, helping them prepare for the competition with engaging and challenging questions that inspire a deeper love for math.
